About Patricia Chung

Patricia Chung is a woman of many hats and titles, a true veteran in the legal and intellectual property world. With a wealth of experience, she has become a well-known figure in the industry, and her name is synonymous with expertise and success.

 

She is the Founding Partner of Messrs Chung Chambers, President of IIPCC Malaysia, and registered IPs Agent in Malaysia, to name a few. Her expertise in Intellectual Property law is unparalleled, and she has dedicated her career to protecting the interests of her clients.

 

As a qualified member of the Malaysian Bar and registered member of various organizations such as Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Malaysia Institute of Arbitrators, and Malaysian Bar Mediation Centre, Patricia has a diverse portfolio in both litigation and non-litigation fronts of IP law. Her legal career spans over 12 years, during which she contributed to several reported Malaysian cases involving IP infringement, provided legal opinions for reputable financial institutions and corporate companies, and handled conveyancing matters.

 

Her leadership has led Chung Chambers to be recognized as the "Best IP Law Firm in Malaysia for 2015" by APAC Insider, and as a Key Partner of Lawtech Malaysia in 2019. She is a regular speaker, mentor, judge, and moderator in various legal workshops, seminars, and conferences organized by Malaysian Bar Council, government authorities, universities, and accelerators, among others.

 

Patricia's expertise is not limited to the legal industry. She has also served as Head of Legal Department cum Patent Steering Committee in a Singaporean-based multinational company, Pioneer, and as an appointed honorary legal advisor for the Small Medium Enterprise Association (SAMENTA) in Malaysia. Her contributions to the industry have led to her being invited to official press conferences, where she has shared her knowledge on copyright infringement and IP law.

 

Today, Patricia leverages on the advancement of technology to help clients worldwide secure IP rights through digitalized service provision. She is actively involved in the LegalTech and FinTech space, using her expertise to help clients navigate through the complexities of IP law in the digital age. Jane Ng

About Jane Ng

Jane graduated from the University of Malaya, Malaysia in 2001 and completed her Certificate of Legal Practice (CLP) in 2002.

 

She was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitors of the High Court of Malaya in year 2003.

 

Jane was practising in Kuala Lumpur and having vast experiences in the areas of Banking, Finance and Civil Litigation before getting married and moving to Penang. She continued practice in Penang in the areas of Dispute Resolution, advising Banks and financial institutions on debt recovery specializing in Hire-Purchase, Industrial Hire-Purchase, Forfeiture of Property and Corporate Insolvency. She has acted as Counsel and Defense Counsel for Banks, MNCs and local companies conducting Trials and Hearings at the Subordinate Courts in the Northern Region, High Court of Malaya in various States and Court of Appeal, Putrajaya. Besides debt recovery, she has also acted and successfully brought and defended actions for individual clients on a wide range of civil actions such as tort, trespass to land, fraud and misrepresentation in contract, breach of trust, Mareva Injunction, goods sold and delivered, divorce and custody of children disputes.

 

In 2016, she founded the firm of Messrs Lee Yuen Syakira & Ng, Advocates & Solicitors, together with 3 other partners. That firm currently exists under a sole proprietorship.

 

Jane joined Chung Chambers in July 2020 handling the Dispute Resolution, Estate and Family Proceedings portfolio. She is an active litigator with more than 17 years’ experience handling corporate, commercial, family and estate proceedings. She is an avid thinker and a tactical player in the Courtroom.

 

Jane’s practice areas include conventional drafting of tenancy, partnership and corporate agreements as well as Wills and Deeds of Family Arrangement. Occasionally, she finds time to engage in pro bono work for the under-privileged.

Maisarah Binti Johairi

About Maisarah

Maisarah graduated from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in September 2020. She then chambered with Chung Chambers from November 2020 until August 2021 and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in January 2022. Currently, Maisarah is practicing as a legal associate at Chung Chambers mainly in Intellectual Property matters.

About Carina Tan

Carina obtained her degree from the University of Leeds in July 2019, after which she pursued her Bar Studies alongside her LLM at the University of Law, Leeds. Upon completing her Bar Studies, she undertook her pupillage at Messrs Kek Ooi & Lee Hong under the guidance of Mr. Kek Boon Wei. Carina was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in January 2023. She is now a Legal Associate at Chung Chambers, with her primary focus being Civil Litigation.

Lim Yong Lin

About Lim Yong Lin

Yong Lin graduated from the University of London (UOL) and completed the Certificate of Legal Profession in the year 2022. He then chambered with M/s Lee & Poh Partnership from March 2023 until December 2023 and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in January 2024. Prior to his legal practice, he had experience working with Intellectual Property Company and software provider company, Clarivate. During his early days of internship with Chung Chambers, he was given the exposure and opportunity to participate in the Law Tech Hackathon and won a second runner-up during the Summit Conference, Malaysia in the year of 2019. Currently, Yong Lin is practising as a legal associate at Chung Chambers mainly in Intellectual Property and Fintech-related matters.

About Ken

Ken obtained his degree from the University of London and completed the Certificate in Legal Practice in 2021. He commenced pupillage with Messrs Chye and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in October 2022. He was then retained by Messrs Chye and practiced as Legal Associate in 2023. He is now a Legal Associate at Chung Chambers.

About Ong

Mr. Ong Choo Hun graduated from the University of Hull, United Kingdom with a BEng (Hons) Degree (Electronics Engineering) majoring in Software Engineering. He began his impressive career in the year 2002 when he plied his trade with Prudential Assurance (M) Bhd. As a Trainer, Retail Financial Planner & Senior Consultant. He then joined Motorola Inc. as Apco Boxtest and iDEN System Test Engineer before joining lxmation (Asia) Sdn. Bhd. As a System Control Engineer & Project Coordinator, where he was tasked with project forecasting and cost planning, delivering suitable packages upon analyzing customers' needs. He excelled in the development of potential customers and growing existing ones, receiving numerous commendations from their top CEOs along the way. Ong then joined PGI Premiere Conferencing, an IT and Telecommunication Service Provider where he coached, assessed and droved high achieving sates representatives as a Pre-Sates Consultant in the South East Asian region. He has amounted some invaluable experiences and garnered numerous accolades along the way, allowing him to have a diverse but sound knowledge of many business and process areas, understand how all of the facets of business inter-relate, and further build on his experience in the engineering side from software to hardware as well as the field of sales and marketing, project and financial management.

 

Further onwards, he joined CISCO (M) Sdn. Bhd. Where he made history with his rapid 3-tier promotion from Virtual Business Manager (Inside Sates) to Seni or Territory Large Account Manager, all within 2 years. He was in the field of 5 main architecture about IT, namely Enterprise Networking, Collaboration, Data Centre, Security and Intern et of Things (Ion, where he travelled the world serving clients, enabling and groom top partners, and responsible for covering big conglomerate and multinational corporations such as FSI (Banking & Insurance), Retailer, Real Estate, Education and Oil & Gas. He led an entire team to accomplish the project's mission and objectives by using a limited resources and time-frame. Amongst some of his prominent achievements were his nomination to cover Penang State Government in developing loT solutions and grooming the smart city in Penang, and his involvement in the network refresh project for the entire main North South Highway Plus and successfully upgrading their infrastructures. He lives and thrives by his tenet, which is "Doing great things by focusing on their possibilities, not by dwelling on their limitations ".
